Team 1 - Gisèle Bonne

Genetics and Pathophysiology of Neuromuscular Disorders

Gisèle Bonne
Team leader: Gisèle Bonne

The team’s project focuses on 4 groups of disease affecting the skeletal and cardiac muscles: the myopathies linked collagen type VI, the centronuclear myopathies, the Emery-Dreifuss muscular dystrophies and other striated muscle laminopathies and the familial hypertrophic cardiomyopathies. A complementary research theme is the study of the mechanisms of contractile dysfunction, characteristic common to these diseases
The team’s project revolves around three major axes: i) definition of genetic and clinical spectrum and natural history of these disorders; ii) investigation the pathogenic mechanisms of gene mutations that induce these cardiac and/or skeletal muscle affections with the overall goal to iii) identify and test therapeutic avenues for these disorders.
